BioGuard Balance Pak 300 is a granular pool calcium hardness increaser designed to raise low calcium levels and help maintain correctly balanced swimming pool water.

Water with insufficient calcium can become aggressive and may contribute to corrosion of equipment, deterioration of pool surfaces and etching of plaster finishes.

What Is Calcium Hardness?

Calcium hardness measures the amount of dissolved calcium in your pool water.

Maintaining the correct calcium level helps keep the water balanced and reduces the risk of damage caused by water that is either too soft or too hard.

What Happens When Calcium Hardness Is Too Low?

Low calcium hardness can contribute to:

• Corrosion of pool equipment
• Corrosion of metal fittings
• Etching of concrete, plaster and grout
• Roughening of some pool surfaces
• Aggressive water conditions

Balance Pak 300 adds calcium to help restore the correct level.

What Should Pool Calcium Hardness Be?

The ideal range depends partly on the pool surface.

BioGuard currently recommends approximately:

• Concrete, tiled and pebblecrete pools: 200–275 ppm
• Fibreglass and vinyl pools: 175–225 ppm

Always test your water before making an adjustment.

What If Calcium Hardness Is Too High?

Balance Pak 300 is designed to raise calcium hardness.

Do not add it when calcium hardness is already high.

Excess calcium can contribute to:

• Scale deposits
• Cloudy water
• Build-up on equipment
• Restricted circulation in severe cases

High-calcium conditions require a different treatment approach.

740g/kg calcium chloride.
